There are 3 types of approved early childhood qualifications:
- early childhood teaching qualifications
- diploma level qualifications
- Certificate III level qualifications.
National Quality Framework (NQF) sets out the minimum qualification requirements for staff working in early childhood education and care services in Australia. Queensland also has specific
qualification requirements for working with school age children (e.g. in outside school hours care services).
Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) is the national body responsible for maintaining and publishing the
lists of approved early childhood qualifications, including determining if qualifications are equivalent under the NQF.
approved qualifications list does not include your early childhood qualification, you can apply to have it assessed for equivalency by
ACECQA. This includes qualifications from overseas.
Tip: You can check if your existing qualification is approved by using the ACECQA
