If you already hold qualifications from an interstate or overseas institution, these qualifications may already be accepted in Queensland, or you may be able to apply for these qualifications to be recognised so you are able to work in Queensland-based services.
Approved early childhood qualifications
There are 3 types of approved early childhood qualifications:
- Early childhood teaching qualifications
- Diploma level qualifications
- Certificate III Level qualifications.
National Quality Framework (NQF) sets out the minimum qualification requirements for staff working in early childhood education and care services in Australia. Queensland also has specific
qualification requirements for working with school age children (e.g. in outside school hours care services).
Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) is the national body responsible for determining if qualifications are equivalent to the qualifications under the NQF, and publishes the lists of approved early childhood qualifications.
approved qualifications list does not include your early childhood qualification, you can apply to have it assessed for equivalency by
ACECQA.This also applies to overseas qualifications.
Tip: You can check if your existing qualifications are approved by using the ACECQA
