Early childhood training subsidies

A number of early childhood skill sets are available through the Queensland Government's Higher Level Skills subsidy program to assist educators to gain the higher level skills required to help secure employment in the sector or career advancement. These include:

For workers to build inclusive practices in an early childhood education and care sector organisation.

For providing services and support to families and children with complex needs in the community sector.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for a subsidy, you must be an existing worker in an early childhood education and care service who already holds a Certificate III or higher level qualification.

You must also:

  • be aged 15 years or over and no longer at school
  • permanently reside in Queensland
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen.

How does the funding work?

The Queensland Government's training subsidies assist to reduce the cost of training, however, you are required to contribute through a 'co-contribution fee'. Your co-contribution fee is determined by the registered training organisation (RTO) and may vary depending on the training provider and skill set you choose. The fee may be paid on your behalf by your employer or another third party, but cannot be paid or waived by the RTO. RTOs approved to deliver the subsidised skill sets include:
