A career in early childhood offers you the opportunity to work in a variety of education and care roles in a number of different settings.

A kindergarten service provides a play-based education and care program for up to 15 hours per week for 40 weeks of the year. These programs are delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher and are built around the strengths of the children.

Providing flexible education and care in the private homes of registered educators to small groups of children from birth to 12 years of age.

Children living in selected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities can take part in a kindergarten program delivered in a range of settings in the year before school.

Giving children, who are mostly school-age, access to play and leisure-based programs.

Additionally, children in selected rural and remote communities can attend kindergarten at their local state schools as part of the Remote Kindergarten Program.

Education and care programs for children from birth to school age are provided in a long day care centre. Most long day care services also provide a kindergarten program for children in the year before full time school.
