Children receiving treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital or the Mater Children’s Private Brisbane Hospital can take part in free kindy sessions.
The kindy sessions provide play-based learning experiences delivered:
- by a qualified early childhood teacher
- one-on-one, on the ward
- during school hours.
Children can take part if they:
- are receiving treatment at the hospitals
- turn 4 years old by 30 June 2019 (to participate in the 2019 program).
Older children may also be able to attend in some situations, for example, if a child’s entry into school is delayed.
Activities and resources for the kindy sessions are provided by the teachers and adapted to meet the needs of each child.
The hospital kindy pilot is being delivered in partnership with eKindy Queensland, Brisbane School of Distance Education, Children’s Health Queensland, and Mater Health.
If you are interested in accessing free kindy for your child in hospital, please contact Queensland Children's Hospital School.
