Welcome to our kindy room
Checking out a kindy room usually involves booking a time. But we have created a 360 virtual tour of a typical kindy room for families to visit from anywhere, anytime.
It’s designed to give you ideas on
what to look for and ask for, and importantly, what is going to provide an engaging, safe and welcoming environment for your child.
When you’re
choosing a service, you can ask to see the centre and speak with the educators or Director before deciding to enrol.
So, take some time to look around and discover what can help you make a decision about enrolling your child, or the type of questions you should ask when choosing an early years education service.
Kindy room point of interests
1. Adequate supervision
Maintaining educator-to-child ratios make sure children are properly supervised at all times. Number varies for each room according to age and number of children.
Ask the centre what the roster looks like for your child’s room.
2. Music
Music is used to help develop:
- children’s communication skills
- express themselves
- engaging with other through musical play.
It also provides:
- a different method learning
- helps with developing coordination
3. Culturally inclusive
Teaching about the cultural diversity of our community is important. In this room, you can see the centre has embraced the new Kindy Songline, developed by an indigenous artist to tell the story of kindy from a child’s perspective.
This helps promote understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
4. Negotiation and collaborative learning
Educators work with children to facilitate play activities and support them to resolve conflicts with each other.
This helps them form friendships and participate in inclusive play.
5. Health and safety
In this room is a dedicated space to health and safety. It contains a range of emergency equipment and related procedures. Educators are trained in:
- First aid
- Correct administration of medicine
- Health and Safety.
Tested equipment, including fire blankets, fire extinguishers, megaphones and first aid kits, are available.
