Reads: QLD ECEC Services Census 2022Every year, the Department of Education conducts the Queensland Early Childhood Education and Care Services Census.

Long day care, kindergarten, family day care and outside school hours care services, and state and non-state schools that provide kindergarten programs, are asked to complete the Census.

The survey reference period is from 1 to 7 August 2022 and services have until 21 August to complete the survey.

You can start preparing for it now with the How to prepare guide. This handy checklist steps you through the survey process and helps you complete every step.

While service providers invest significant time in completing the Census, they may not realise just how valuable that data is, and how the quality of the information supplied is as important to the sector as it is to the department.

The data determines Queensland's allocation of kindergarten funding from the Australian Government and informs decision-making in the year ahead on the important issues of funding, workforce planning and program development.

The department's new Kindy funding reforms are based on information and trends in the Census data.
