Countdown to 1 January 2022

Time is running out for educators to complete an approved qualification and be counted as an early childhood teacher (ECT) from 1 January 2022.

The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) has announced that a number of transitional workforce regulations contained in Education and Care Services National Regulations will expire in Queensland on 31 December 2021.

If you are actively working towards your early childhood teacher qualification, this means that from 1 January 2022, you will need to hold an approved ECT qualification on the ACECQA list to be recognised as an ECT.

Visit ACECQA’s qualification checker to ensure your qualification is approved.

Will you be ready? Be sure you count as an early childhood teacher.

The department will continue to work with the sector as we move closer towards 1 January 2022.
