Notifications to the Regulatory Authority

Approved providers under the National Quality Framework (NQF) must notify the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (Regulatory Authority) of certain incidents, complaints and changes to information.

The National Decision Tree is an interactive tool to assist approved providers in deciding whether a notification is required and the timeframe in which that notification should be made.

If a notification is needed, you will be directed to the National Quality Agenda IT System to log in and lodge the relevant online form.

You are required to fill in all of the relevant fields in the form and include any supporting documentation, so that the Regulatory Authority can quickly and accurately assess what (if any) action needs to be taken as a result of the notification.

It is the approved provider's responsibility to understand their obligations and operate according to the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law. Penalties may apply.

For a full list of notification types and timeframes under the NQF, visit the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority website.

Please note that the Regulatory Authority does not require APs to make a notification about short-term, predictable, changes to hours for school holiday periods.
