Early Childhood Educators' Day is a chance to show appreciation for more than 52,800 educators shaping Queensland’s next generation. Their work provides children with lifelong skills for learning and on this day, we celebrate their incredible impact.

The theme for 2025 is 'Together We All Shine!' recognising the power of teamwork among educators, and the important relationships they build with children. Service providers, staff and families will come together to make sure early childhood educators continue to shine.

Appreciating educators at every stage of their career

We heard from 2 educators at different stages in their Early Childhood careers to see their unique perspectives. Let's meet Lynette and Anna.

What do you love most about the job?

'For me it's seeing a child’s curiosity at different developmental stages. Noticing the changes they go through from when they arrive to when they leave and being part of their learning journey.'—Lynette, senior teacher.
'It's in the small everyday moments like when you see children problem solve, they investigate and ask questions until they understand. I love seeing that excitement and joy in getting new information.'—Anna, educator.

When did you start working in early childhood?

'I initially worked at a primary school before going into early childhood studies in 1995. After working in Auckland for 15 years, I moved to Australia and continued my career closer to family.'—Lynette.
'This is only my first year! While studying I switched to early childhood education after discovering how much I loved working with young children and seeing the world through their eyes.'—Anna.

What would you say to new or aspiring early childhood educators?

'When you see these young children leave kindy and they’re ready for school, you know you have laid the foundations. It’s a great pleasure to be part of those early years. You need to have a deep passion for it, and its hard work.'—Lynette.
'Give it a shot! It sometimes makes me feel like a child again, being able to experience the world through their lens is beautiful. And being able to walk beside them in that early learning journey is an honour.'—Anna.
