Have your say about possible changes to make education and care services even safer for children

In 2023, ACECQA undertook the Review of Child Safety Arrangements under the National Quality Framework.

The review identified that while the National Quality Framework (NQF) is a robust regulatory scheme, with a strong focus on continuous quality improvement, there is more to be done to strengthen the NQF and National Quality Standard.

The review identified systemic safeguards and structures to better support approved providers, teachers and educators to protect children, with a focus on reducing harm, abuse and neglect.

Since then, the Australian Government and all jurisdictions have worked together to develop options to continue to improve child safety. These options are now open for consultation and will close on 11 June 2025.

All stakeholders—including approved providers and service leaders, educators, staff, volunteers, families, parents and carers (and their children)—are invited to provide feedback on the policy options.

For more information about the policy options, a webinar explaining the options and why they are being proposed, and to provide feedback, visit the child safety review page on the Deloitte website.

Register for the webinar hosted by the Deloitte Access Economics team on Tuesday 6 May 12–2pm.

Background and context

Deloitte Access Economics has been engaged on behalf of the Australian Government together with Australian state and territory governments to undertake a Regulatory Impact Analysis process (RIA) for proposed policy options aimed at improved child safety arrangements in education and care services across the country. The proposed policy options for RIA address recommendations from the review.
