Using these published
guidelines will help you develop effective and service-specific policies and procedures and ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of children.
Each guideline includes a logical step-by-step breakdown of what services need to cover in each policy and procedure under regulations 168 and 169 of the National Regulations.
Policies and procedures should outline the processes all staff employed by a service will follow and guide them to meet their legislative requirements. They should also help to inform families about how the service operates.
The guidelines are not an exact format or template. They have been designed to help you develop policies and procedures that address the unique context, user group and operating model of your individual service.
The guidelines cover:
- children's health and safety
- staffing arrangements
- relationships with children
- governance and leadership
- additional guidelines for family day care services.
