The Queensland Government is supporting the early childhood sector to implement and embed national child safety reforms.
Free online communities of practice are available to help eligible services embed into everyday practice, learning from the mandatory
national child safety training.
Background
To meet the legislated training requirement, relevant staff must complete the online national child safety training courses developed by the Australian Centre for Child Protection (ACCP) at Adelaide University.
To support services following completion of this training, the Department of Education has partnered with Act for Kids to deliver communities of practice over 12 months. The sessions use companion resources developed by ACCP.
Who is eligible
Communities of practice are available for:
- outside school hours care services
- family day care services
- long day care providers with fewer than 5 services.
About the program
Communities of practice are free 90-minute online sessions facilitated by a child safety expert.
The sessions provide a practical opportunity to explore how learning from the foundations of child safety courses apply in your service, discuss real-world challenges, ask questions and learn from other services.
Small group sessions encourage active participation, shared learning and practical discussion.
Participation in the communities of practice is not mandatory but can support sustained learning and help embed the training in everyday practice.
