Funding and programs

  • Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) (PDF, 3.4MB) is a departmental program provided to support children from birth to 5 years with significant educational support needs arising from diagnosed or suspected disability. ECDPs aim to support children's early learning and help develop valuable skills children need to be successful learners now and as they transition into school.
  • Funding to support disability and complex additional needs assists with the inclusion of children with disability.
  • ​Inclusion Ready Subsidy ​​is funding provided directly to service providers of kindergarten in long day care and sessional kindergartens. Funding is automatically applied based on enrolments and is aimed at reducing immediate local barriers affecting kindergarten participation to support all children and families to feel welcome and meaningfully participate in the kindergarten program.​​
  • Kindergarten Inclusion Service​ is funding provided to 4 specialist organisations—Down Syndrome Queensland, Autism Queensland, Hear and Say, and SPELD Queensland—to provide free practical advice, training and support directly to educators to support the inclusion of children with complex support needs in kindy.
  • Kindergarten Inclusion Support Scheme funding is provided to sessional kindergarten services through the Central Governing Bodies for additional resources based on supports required for children with disability or complex support needs.
  • NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) designated f​or children with a disability or developmental delay under the age of 7 years. Children do not require a diagnosis to access NDIS ECEI services and supports. The NDIS ECEI community partners provide information and advice about supports and services available in your local community, can work with children to provide short-term early intervention supports and help families access an NDIS plan for their child.

  • Birdie's Tree developed by Queensland Centre for​ Perinatal and Infant Mental Health helps educators and staff working in early childhood education and care to support young children and families who've been through a natural disaster. The curriculum is available through a package of centre-wide training, resources and support.
