Episode 2

Sally is sorting plant pots from the garden. She asks Possum to help, but Possum ends up sorting the pots by colour, instead of size. They head inside so Sally can teach Possum to sort things by colour, size and shape. They also make their own playing cards—some different, some the same. Sally then teaches Possum how to play Snap.

Episode 3

It's raining outside so Possum is painting a picture of his tree when he knocks over his green paint. After cleaning up, he has no green paint left. Sally explains to Possum, that he can mix colours to make new ones. When the rain stops, they go outside and see a rainbow.

Episode 4

Possum kicks his ball up a tree and climbs up to get it. Meanwhile, Sally is inside washing up her many shaped kitchen storage containers. Possum spots shapes in the clouds from the top of his tree. They both go inside to make pizza. While the pizza cooks, they make a chart of all the shapes they see. Then they eat their pizza.

Episode 5

Possum tries to help Sally set up a tent in the backyard but he doesn't follow the instructions. Sally finds the instructions and Possum sets up the tent. Possum tries to go to sleep, but is scared of the dark. Sally lends Possum a light and they learn about shadows.

Episode 6

Sally is making a shopping list. When Possum drinks the last of Sally's milk, he wonders where milk comes from. To find out, they watch kids visit a dairy farm. Possum helps Sally check-off items from the list when she comes back from the shop. He learns about weighing and measuring things before making banana smoothies with Sally.

Episode 7

Possum notices that Sally gets letters but he doesn't. He thinks maybe it's because the postman doesn't know where his tree is. Sally suggests it may be because he doesn't write any letters. Sally helps Possum write a letter to Amanda. While Sally posts Possum's letter, Possum writes a sign. Later on, Amanda visits with a letterbox for Possum. Inside is a letter for Possum.

Episode 8

Sally is baking cookies while Possum clears out things from his tree. Sally gets Possum to help share out the cookies by dividing then into equal piles. He begins to worry, with more people coming over, there will be less cookies for him. Outside, Possum's pile continues to grow. When Sally’s friends arrive, they all bring more cookies to share and Possum is much happier.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aw!

Hmm!

Wow!

Look!

I'm Sally.

And I'm Possum.

Hello!

Hello everyone!

I've got some friends coming to visit me today, so I thought I'd make these healthy biscuits.

I've got bananas, rolled oats, and dates.

And these are the biscuits, we're going to share them together.

I went out to see Possum before, to see if he wanted to help me make the biscuits but he seemed very busy doing something in his tree, so I left him to it.

I didn't ask him.

I just came in here and made the biscuits.

They're now ready to go in the oven.

Once I've done that, I'm going to go and see what Possum's up to.

No, I'll keep this.

Hi Sally!

Hi everyone!

Hello.

Possum what are you doing?

I just had a few things in my tree that I'm not using anymore, so I thought I'd give them away.

All of these things were in your tree?

Did you have room in there?

Yes, it was a little bit crowded but I don't need them anymore, so I thought I'd give them to children that needed them.

Oh that's a great idea Possum, I'm sure we can find some places to donate these things to.

Oh that's great.

I was cooking biscuits earlier and I thought to myself, I know Possum would love to help me but when I came outside, I saw you were very busy so I didn't ask you, I just left you to it.

You're right Sally, I was very busy but I could help you eat all the biscuits!

I knew you'd say that Possum!

I'm just going to go and see if they're ready, okay?

All right Sally.

Hmm, a few more things.

Fore!

Tee hee!

Yeah.

Delicious?

Oh yeah.

Right, first you have to wash your hands and then we can share the biscuits out.

All right.

Sally, I can do the sharing now.

All right.

That's Sally's.

Mine.

This is Possum's.

Yours.

There's a lot of fruit on that one.

Oh that's a big one!

Oh look how thick that one is, yum!

Hold on Possum.

What?

I've only got one.

And you've got lots.

Yeah?

Well that's not very fair.

That's not really sharing.

Sharing is when you do things equally, that's not sharing.

Okay, I'll do it again.

All right.

All done.

See, now we have two rows.

Yeah.

How many in your row Possum?

One, two, three, four, five, six.

Six.

That's good, six.

And how many in my row?

One, two, three, four, five, six.

Six, we've got six each.

That's the same number.

That's called sharing.

Sally, can I eat them now?

Oh no, not yet Possum.

Amanda will be here soon, we have to share with her.

It's bad luck for Amanda, it won't be enough.

There's plenty of biscuits here.

We'll be able to share between three people.

We just need three columns.

Three columns.

Okay, I'll try to work it out.

Look!

That's great!

That row, who's that for?

That's yours.

Mine, how many have I got?

Four.

Great, and yours?

Mine… four.

Four and…

Four!

Amanda has four, you have four, I have four, we all have the same, that's sharing.

Yeah well, six is more than four.

I know, but there's still plenty.

Hmm?

Amanda's here!

I'll get it.

Hello!

Hello!

Orange juice.

Thank you Amanda, thank you.

Sally, there's a big pile of things out in your yard, what's going on there?

Possum has been working tirelessly all morning to clean his tree.

Okay.

All of the things he hasn't used for a while, he's now going to share them with other people.

Isn't that lovely?

Wow.

And what's this?

I'll explain.

This row here is for Sally.

Mine.

This row here is for Possum, that's mine and then this row is yours, Amanda.

Oh thank you.

Possum.

Pauline's coming.

What will we do?

Possum has been doing such a good job learning how to share.

Before, when it was the two of us, he made two lines.

And now there's the three of us, he's made three lines but now there's going to be four people.

I wonder how he's going to do it?

Look!

This row can be for Sally.

Me.

This row can be for Possum.

That's mine.

That's you and then this row can be for Amanda and this row can be for Pauline.

Phew!

That's great!

Yeah.

Possum, I hope more people aren't coming.

Hah!

You guys are just joking.

Just teasing.

I need to get more things out of my tree.

Okay Possum, bye.

Bye.

What Possum doesn't know is, I've actually made more biscuits.

Oh!

They're in the oven.

He has no idea!

Oh wow!

They're a bit hot, be careful.

Can you help me put them in the bowl please?

Okay.

Ooh!

Ahh!

Yeah.

Look at all these things.

What a big pile.

Possum did all of this come from your tree?

Yeah.

Anyway.

There's only just enough biscuits to go around.

Huh?

Whoa.

There's plenty to go around.

Hello!

Hello Pauline!

I've made fruit cake for all of us to share.

Thank you and I know Tracy's on her way in.

Huh?

Hello everyone!

Oh.

Oh no!

Hi Tracy!

Hello!

Hi Tracy!

Tracy, do you like biscuits?

Oh I do, I love biscuits and that's why I've made some more!

Oh!

Oh!

This is easy to share now.

I can eat as much as I want until I'm full and then whatever's left over, you guys can share it around.

Well, our time is up.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

Bye!

Bye!

Right, I want that one.

I want that one too.

Oh and that one!

Episode 9

Sally is boiling water in the kitchen to cook eggs for breakfast. Possum is confused because there are no puddles from the rain he thought he heard last night. Sally teaches Possum all about water, steam and where rain comes from. Possum is keen to find out what volume of water has fallen, so they go inside and make a rain gauge together.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aww!

Hmm!

Aww, wow!

Huh?

Look!

Ah!

I'm Sally!

And I'm Possum.

Hello!

Hello everyone.

Look at the lovely breakfast I've made for me and Possum.

Possum should be here soon.

Oh.

It looks like I have time to clean those dirty windows on the door.

I'll clean the outside after breakfast.

Water is very useful.

You can use it for many different things.

I'm using water to boil my eggs.

I'm using water to make my tea and there is water in the bucket and that helps me clean the windows.

It's great.

Well, my eggs are ready.

Everything's ready.

Where's Possum?

He's taking his time.

Hmm.

Good morning everybody!

What?

It rained last night but there are no puddles.

There should be puddles!

That's dry too.

Oh well, I'm off to have breakfast with Sally.

Oh! Huh?

It rained just in that little spot there.

Hello.

Hello.

Good morning.

Good morning.

Sally is it ready?

Yes it's ready.

I've been waiting for you to get here before I started to eat it.

Sorry Sally, last night I thought it had rained but when I woke up this morning, there were no puddles but I found one spot where it did rain.

One spot only where it rained, nowhere else?

Yeah.

I didn't think it rained at all, Possum.

I put my head out the door earlier and I couldn't see any water.

Anyway, look at it boiling.

It's bubbling away.

Bubbling?

Where's it going?

Well Possum, underneath the element heats up and that heats the water, makes it bubble and then it turns into steam.

Like when I was cooking my eggs before.

The element heats the water up and it bubbles and those bubbles become steam.

Oh look, the bubbles become steam.

Look at all the steam.

Because it's hot, careful.

Well, our breakfast is ready, shall we eat?

Yes please.

Oh, that was delicious.

That was delicious.

Mm-mm.

I think we've finished our breakfast.

I need to go outside and wash the windows.

Would you like to help me?

Oh yes.

Let's go.

Possum, what happened?

All the water in my bucket is gone.

Where did it go?

I know, it is very strange, last night it rained but only in that one spot and nowhere else.

No Possum, it didn't rain.

I filled this bucket up using the kitchen tap.

I needed to use the water to wash the windows and then I put it outside.

Possum, have you ever seen it rain in just one spot and nowhere else?

No I haven't Sally, but I'm a bit confused.

Where does rain come from?

I know, remember we watched the kettle boiling and watched the bubbles, bubble away and become steam.

Yeah.

Well, the same principle applies out here, when you've got the damp ground the moisture evaporates up into the air, into the sky, and they become clouds and when the clouds get heavy, it rains.

Aha, Sally is it like a sponge?

Look I'll show you.

Yes that's like a cloud, Possum.

When it gets full, it rains.

Sally, I thought it had rained last night.

It would be great to know how much rain we had.

Well there is something that we can use.

It's called a rain gauge.

And it can tell us how much rain there has been.

It catches the water and you use the ruler on the side, to measure how much rain has fallen.

That'd be great to see how much rain had fallen.

Yeah.

Would you like to make one Possum?

Yes please!

Let's go inside.

Okay.

Look, we've got everything we need to make a rain gauge and that will tell us how much rain we get.

Oh great!

Can you get the instructions out please?

Okay.

These are our instructions and this will explain to us how to make our rain gauge.

We have all the things we need, are you ready?

Yeah.

First, we need to get the bottle.

Can you get that for me please?

Okay.

Now we'll use a piece of paper to wrap around it and then we'll put a black line around it so that we know it's straight.

Can you do that for me please?

Yeah, okay.

See, we have our black line.

Yeah.

Now we're going to cut the top off.

I'll start it because the knife is very sharp but then you can cut it with the scissors.

Okay.

Careful.

Oh it's sharp.

Just cut along the line.

Okay.

Good.

Great.

That's great.

Now, you can see it's uneven at the bottom.

Yeah.

It's got all these ridges.

We need the bottom to be flat.

So we're going to use plasticine.

Oh.

Can you break some bits off?

And put them in the bottom please.

Now it's nice and even.

Yeah, it is even.

Now it's level.

To measure the rain, we'll use a ruler.

Can you find zero on that for me?

Right there.

Great, we'll put zero right on where the plasticine line is.

Can you please get some sticky tape so we can tape together?

Oh okay.

That's great.

Now we need to add the lid.

Oh.

No, not like that Possum.

Can you please take the lid off?

No, the other way around.

Oh.

There you go.

This is to make sure that leaves and other things don't fall into the rain gauge.

We need to tape it together to make sure it stays on.

I think we're finished.

Yeah we're finished.

Well there's one more thing we need to do and that is to take it outside and wait for the rain to come.

Yeah, okay!

Let's go.

Just put it here, Possum.

Good timing.

It looks like it might rain soon.

Sally, I thought it was strange it only rained in one spot and nowhere else but now I'll know how much it has rained.

Why don't we watch some children learning about the weather?

Should we do that?

Yeah let's watch.

That was great!

Oh Possum look, it's starting to rain.

Wait, I was going to put it in my tree Sally, because I didn't want it to get wet.

Haha!

Oh you're funny, Possum!

I'm just joking.

Well our time is up.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

Bye!

Bye!

Episode 10

Sally and Possum are working in the yard. Sally leaves Possum to push a box in a wheelbarrow. Jay delivers a large, locked, wooden crate. Possum imagines what's inside. Possum gets Sally to help open it, but Jay explains there's a key. Sally pulls the key from an envelope and Possum opens the box. Inside is a present. Jay helps Sally and Possum assemble it.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aw!

Hmm!

Wow!

Look!

I'm Sally.

And I'm Possum.

Hello!

Hi Sally!

Hi Possum!

Hi everyone.

Hello everyone.

Sally, that looks very heavy.

Would you like a hand?

Oh yes please.

I'll lift it for you.

No no, no no Possum,

I don't need you to pick it up.

It'll be too hard and too heavy, just leave it in the wheel barrow.

You see this bit here?

That bit is made to hold heavy things and you see how it's above the ground?

With that wheel underneath it, that makes it easy to move.

Oh, can I try Sally?

Sure Possum.

That is easy!

Can you please wheel that over to the garden for me?

Just pop it down next to the tomatoes please.

Okay, no worries.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Whoa.

Hi Possum.

Hi Jay.

Jay, come inside.

Oh okay.

For that?

Okay, bye Jay.

Okay.

Bye Jay.

Bye Jay, see you.

It's a big box.

It's very big.

I wonder what's in it.

Delicious pizza!

So much delicious fruit.

Yes, yay.

Huh?

What?

Huh?

Oh I know.

Sally, Sally…

What?

There's a big box out there and I can't move it.

I saw you wheeling the box away into the garden already.

It's fine.

Yeah the big heavy box, I can't open it.

The box was already open.

You can just put the tree in and take the tree out.

No, no Sally, not the tree.

Jay brought a big box.

Jay?

What's he got to do with it?

Yeah Jay, he brought a big heavy box.

Oh you mean the last time he came he brought that big box, the one with the fridge in it.

No, no Sally, you better come have a look, come on.

Quick, quick, quick, quick.

Come on, quick, quick, quick.

Good.

Oh.

It's definitely a different box.

Jay really was here.

What do you think is inside?

I was imagining all sorts of different things but I really don't know.

It's locked.

Do you have the key?

Nope.

Where are the instructions?

I don't have them.

Oh look.

Hi Jay.

Hi Jay.

Hi Sally.

It's locked, do you have the key?

Here it is.

An envelope, ah, let's see.

Sally, what does it say?

It says dear Possum.

Please enjoy this present that was mine when I was a little boy.

I hope you enjoy playing with it.

From your friend, Jay.

Oh thank you.

There's something else in here.

It's a key.

I know.

Oh what is it?

Wow, what a great present.

What is it?

I think it's a go kart.

It's something you can sit in, it has wheels and you can steer it, is that right?

Yes, wheels.

Can we make it now Sally?

Yes we can.

I'll leave you two to make it and I'll go inside and make some lunch.

Okay, bye.

Okay.

There, okay.

Under.

Okay.

On top.

Okay.

Yeah!

Two.

There you go.

Great.

Oh wow.

Wow, yeah.

Hi Sally, look!

Oh, lovely wheels.

And look, where you sit.

Oh it's up off the ground.

You can ride around, oh and have so much fun.

Yeah like this morning Sally, with the wheel barrow and it's one wheel.

This has wheels too.

I love wheels.

Yes, I know you love wheels, Possum.

Why don't we watch some children doing things with wheels?

Shall we watch?

Yeah let's watch.

That was great.

It was fantastic.

Me?

Can I Sally?

Yes of course you can, go on.

Yay.

Good.

Hold on, why don't you do two laps of the house?

Great, have fun.

Weee!

Woohoo!

Yay!

Haha!

Haha!

Wow that looked like lots of fun, you must have enjoyed that.

Your energy must be low now, would you like to eat some lunch?

Yes please.

I'll go and bring some lunch out.

Well out time is up.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

Bye.

Come on let's go Jay!

Bye!

Episode 11

Sally tells Possum a story. When Possum wants to hear another one, Sally suggests he write his own story to tell. Sally helps Possum learn sequencing and other tips on how to construct a good story. Possum draws some pictures too and just as he finishes, Jay arrives and surprises him. Possum shows Jay his story about the time he delivered them a fridge.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aww!

Hmm!

Aww, wow!

Huh?

Look!

Ah!

I'm Sally!

And I'm Possum.

Hello!

And the queen looked out over the sea to the ship sailing away and called out to the captain of the boat.

Captain Blackbeard, you saved yourself this time.

Goodbye, goodbye.

The end.

Oh, one more story, one more story!

Oh hello everyone.

Possum you've already had three stories.

I need to go inside and make lunch.

Why don't you make up your own story?

My own story?

Mmm-hmm.

How would I start it?

Hmm, well you start it with something nice.

Or something interesting that's just happened.

Hmm, I know.

Sally was making lunch for Possum!

Well, that's nice but it's not really a story is it?

You need a problem or something that happens that has to be solved.

That's a story.

I know.

Sally made lunch for Possum but he was so hungry he ate it all so Sally had to make more.

Hmm, well that is a bit better but can you think of something that doesn't involve food?

Hmm, I know.

Can we tell a story about Possum not being able to sleep?

Well we could, but Possum why couldn't you sleep?

Hmm, that's not right, we know possums love to sleep.

We never get restless.

That's true!

Why don't we think of something that's happened previously, an event that's happened?

You can start the story with once upon a time.

Hmm, I know.

Once upon a time, Possum had a best friend.

Hmm, what did he look like?

Who, me?

No, the possum's best friend.

He's not a man, he's a girl.

Oh, did she have curly hair?

Yes.

Is that the same as us?

Yes it is Sally but there's another character.

Okay, ready?

Once upon a time, Jay came to visit and helped us make boats.

Yes, I remember that day.

That was a great day but your story's a bit short.

I think there are more things that happened like the missing fridge.

Yeah, that's right.

Why don't we go inside and I'll make lunch?

You can start thinking about your story.

Okay.

Mm, huh.

Aha.

Hey Possum I was just thinking.

Why don't we think about the day Jay visited us and the events that happened on that day?

We'll have to remember what happened first and then what happened after that.

What you could do is draw the pictures in a book.

Draw the pictures of the events that happened and we can write a story from that.

Yeah.

I've got your scrapbook.

Oh, good.

Possum before you start why don't we watch some children drawing some pictures and writing their stories?

Shall we watch?

Yeah let's watch!

Oh that was great!

Fantastic.

That's a great way to remember a story.

Yes that's true.

Sally we need to remember when Jay visited us.

Hmm.

Hmm, oh I remember.

One day I was asleep in my treehouse.

I woke up, went out the front door and saw that Jay had left a big box there for me.

Yes that's a good story but at the time you didn't know it was Jay who'd left the box there.

Okay, hmm, I need to think again.

Hmm, oh right.

One day I was asleep in my treehouse.

I woke up, went out the front door and saw a giant box and it was heavy.

Yes, that's a good story but that is just the start.

You need to remember the rest of the story.

It's like when you make a sandwich.

You start off with the bread and then you put the ingredients in the middle.

Now, what would you like on your sandwich?

Sally, you can decide how to make the sandwich and I'll make my story.

Okay then Possum.

Great.

Sally, look.

That looks great.

That's the first of the events.

What happened next?

Hmm.

Hmm, oh, Sally.

The box was very, very heavy but I'm very strong so I lifted it up and I carried it all the way into my tree.

That's right Possum, why don't you draw that now?

Okay.

Sally, look.

Oh Possum that's a lovely picture.

Look at you big and strong, lifting that heavy box but what happened next?

Well next I got a brand new fridge all to myself.

That wasn't your fridge that was mine Possum!

Oh you're funny.

What happened next?

Hmm.

Hmm, I remember.

You flashed the doorbell so I opened the door and came out and I saw you standing with a big man.

His name was Jay and you were both looking for a missing box.

That's right Possum.

So I brought the box out of my tree.

Yes, that's part of the story.

Draw that now Possum.

Okay.

Look, Sally.

Oh that is such a lovely drawing, Possum.

I really like that.

Now what happened next?

Hmm.

Hmm, oh I remember, Jay and I got the heavy fridge and put it into the kitchen and then he helped us make little boats.

That's exactly right Possum that is what happened.

Now you can draw that.

Yeah, okay.

Sally, I'm all finished.

Oh what a beautiful drawing, Possum.

That is great.

Yes, I remember the whole story.

That's great.

Hmm.

Visitor's here, let's see.

Oh.

Hello Sally!

Hello Jay, come in.

Hello Possum!

Haha!

Hello Possum.

Ha!

Oh, he's daydreaming!

Hm, ah, hmm.

I have an idea, roll it up into a straw and blow in his ear.

This'll be fun, watch this.

Hmm, huh?

Huh?

Uh?

Haha!

It's Jay!

Yes, he's here!

It's Jay!

Yes.

Hi Jay!

Ha ha!

Jay it's you.

Look, Jay.

Do you remember?

This is you.

What about this?

I'm very strong.

Yes!

Hold on, hold on.

I've just finished making lunch.

Would you like some?

Well, our time is up.

Thanks for watching!

See you next time.

Bye!

Bye!

Jay, look.

What about this?

This is me.

Episode 12

Possum is at the tip of his tree watching birds flying. Sally receives an Air Mail letter, which Possum thinks flew there. Sally explains that it arrived by plane. Sally also explains paper can fly if it is made into a plane. Sally and Possum head inside to learn how to make paper planes. Possum climbs his tree to fly his planes.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aw!

Hmm!

Wow!

Look!

I'm Sally.

And I'm Possum.

Hello!

Ohhh, whew.

Oh!

Ooo, ohhhh, awww!

Bye bye.

Hello everyone.

I'm just off to check my letterbox to see if there's any mail in there.

Hello, Possum!

Hi, Sally.

Ahh!

Hello, Sally.

Hello, Possum.

You came down very quickly.

Well, I am a possum and we are very fast climbers.

It was easy.

Yes, that's true.

What were you doing up there?

I was just up there enjoying the beautiful view and watching those beautiful, clever birds flying around.

They are so clever, watching them use their wings and flying around.

I wish I could be like a bird and fly.

I know.

Sally, what's that?

It's a letter.

No, no, what's that?

Oh, that means this letter flew here.

It flew here?

Like a plane?

Yes.

No, no, no, no.

It can't fly.

It means the person who wrote it, posted it and put it into a bag and then put it on an aeroplane.

Then the plane lands, the bag is unloaded and the letter is delivered to my letterbox.

Ah, I get it now.

The paper is like me, it can't actually fly.

That's right but you can make something that does fly.

Do you remember making a beautiful kite that sailed in the breeze?

Yeah, can we do that again Sally?

Mmm, I don't think so Possum.

It's not windy enough.

True.

But, there is something else we can make out of paper.

If we fold it into the right shape, we can make it fly.

We can?

How?

I can show you inside how to make it.

Yes, please.

But before we do that, why don't we watch some children making paper planes?

Yeah, let's watch!

Aww.

Possum, weren't those children clever making those paper planes?

Yeah, I want to do that, too, Sally.

Have you got any paper that's shaped like a wing?

I want to make a plane too but how do you make planes stay in the air?

Well, a plane staying in the air is a very tricky concept to explain, Possum.

You see, there's air all around us, but you can't see the air.

But, it's always there, pressing against us and pushing us up and down with a paper plane, the air skims across the top and the air underneath pushes it up.

I'll show you.

Can you get a piece of paper out of the box?

Now, get the straw.

Now put them together.

Roll it over.

Right.

Now, blow above the straw above and blow.

Go.

Ahh!

Look.

The paper went up, flat.

That's because the air is skimming over the top and the air underneath is pushing up.

Sally, it's like a wing.

Yes.

That's right, Possum.

It is like a wing.

Right.

Making a paper plane uses the same principle.

When you throw the paper plane, the wind skims across the top of it and the air underneath is what keeps it up.

But, there's something else we can't see called gravity.

So while the wind is pushing the paper plane up, gravity is pulling it to the ground.

Huh?

It's hard to understand but that doesn't matter.

It's always interesting to learn new things.

It doesn't matter if you understand or not.

Can we make a paper plane that just flies and flies and flies and flies and flies and flies and flies and never lands?

You can try, Possum.

I've got the instructions on how to make a paper plane in the drawer.

Can you get them out please?

Okay.

There's the instructions, Possum.

It says ‘How to Make a Paper Plane'.

This tells us what we need, which is just some good construction paper and this shows us how to fold it, see?

Now, we just need a piece of paper.

Pick one, Possum.

Okay.

Now, follow the instructions.

First, we need to fold it in half.

That's good.

Right, now place it flat on the table.

Good, now fold the corners in.

Good.

And once you've finished that, you fold them in again.

Again?

Okay.

Great!

Now, fold the point back.

Okay.

Great, now fold it again.

Yes, and to make the wings you fold it back onto itself.

Okay.

That's great, Possum!

Look, Sally!

That will fly through the air.

We've finished!

We've finished making our plane.

Ah, yeah!

Would you like to throw it now?

Oh, yes!

Look!

That was brilliant!

Sally, can I make more in the backyard?

Yes, of course you can.

I have some other things to do in here.

Off you go.

Sally, watch me.

I'm going to show you something.

Hmmm.

Ha-ha!

Oh, wow!

That was amazing!

Your plane flew all the way around there.

Wow!

See you Sally!

Ahh, look at all of these.

Beautiful.

Hello, Possum.

Hi, Sally.

Sally, watch this flight.

Oh, no, no, no!

Possum, you can't fly!

Stay there.

No, Sally.

The paper plane.

Watch this.

Oh, wow, that was great!

That was great, Possum.

That flew very well.

Thank you so much for teaching me how to make a plane out of paper Sally.

That's okay.

Now I can do it any time I want.

All I have to do is fold the paper and watch the plane fly.

That's right, Possum.

You've done a great job following the instructions and making planes.

There are all sorts of different planes you can make.

Look, it's lovely.

You've done a great job, Possum.

Sally, look.

It's a bird.

Yes.

Sally, I may not be able to fly like a bird but I can make a paper aeroplane and watch it fly.

Yes, yes you can.

That's great!

Well, our time is up.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

Bye!

Bye!

Sally, look!

Look.

Haha!

Episode 13

Wind has blown leaves all over the lawn. Sally uses her leaf blower to clean them up but Possum jumps in the pile, sending leaves in every direction. Possum apologises and helps Sally clean up before building a pretend cardboard boat. Sally and Possum go on a real boat. When they return, they make a wind vane to tell which way the wind is blowing.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aww!

Hmm!

Aww, wow!

Huh?

Look!

Ah!

I'm Sally!

And I'm Possum.

Hello!!

Oh hello everyone.

Look at my nice neat pile of leaves.

I've worked very hard this morning, because it's been very windy and all the leaves on all of the trees are falling into my yard.

I used the leaf blower and the rake to clear it up into this one neat pile.

It's nice and tidy now.

I'm going to throw it all in the rubbish.

I'm going to throw those boxes away too.

I just need to go inside and get a garbage bag to put the leaves into.

Hello everyone.

Ohh!

Look at that big pile of leaves.

Sally must have made it for me.

She knows I love jumping in big piles of leaves.

Possum!

What are you doing?

What are you doing?

Sorry Sally, I thought you made this for me.

They're not for playing with Possum.

Sometimes we have to work.

It's been so windy lately, that all these leaves were all over the yard and I've been cleaning them up to throw them out, and now they're everywhere.

Well you and I will just have to clean this up Possum.

I'll use the leaf blower and you can use the rake.

Okay?

Okay.

Sally, that leaf blower is great!

I love watching all those leaves flying around.

Yes, it is good fun isn't it Possum?

Here let's try it with a towel.

Okay.

Haha!

That's almost like a sailboat isn't it?

Yeah.

Sally, wait here.

What?

Oh that was a great boat wasn't it?

But you can't play with it yet though Possum.

The wind looks like it's picking up and I don't want these leaves to go everywhere.

We have to put them into the garbage bags okay?

Okay.

Right.

Are we done?

Sally can we play now?

Yes we can.

Shhh.

Funny Possum.

Shhhh.

Oh you're funny Possum.

I know how you love to sail.

I need to go and put these bags in the rubbish.

And when I get back, I'll get the boxes.

You can keep playing, okay?

Okay.

He's funny.

Shhhh.

That's great!

Here that's right.

Hi Sally!

Possum what a wonderful boat.

You have been working very hard haven't you?

See, look Sally.

This is the main part.

All right, they do look the same don't they?

That's called the hull.

Sally look, this sticking up thing.

This is the rake.

Yes, that's called the mast.

Sally.

Look.

Oh you're so clever.

That's the sail isn't it?

That looks great.

Well, you keep playing, I'm just going to pop next door and see the neighbour.

I need to ask him a few questions.

I am so glad you really, really love the wind, Possum.

Okay, bye.

You know Possum loves to sail.

It's given me a brilliant idea.

The man who lives next door, he used to work on boats for years as a sailor.

I'm going to go and ask him if he could help me organise a very special surprise for Possum.

I'm going to ask him if perhaps we could go sailing.

Okay?

Whoosh, whoosh.

Oh, hi Sally!

Wow.

What a great boat.

That is so good but there are two things that are missing.

What?

Well like I said, I just visited the neighbour, he used to work as a sailor.

He was always on different boats.

I asked if I could borrow two things for you.

What are they?

Well the first is this.

Haha!

Ahoy there.

That's great.

And now I have one more thing for you.

Whoa.

That is a telescope and you can see a long, long way.

Hello!

Sally, I feel like a real sailor now.

Well Possum, I have something that's going to make you feel even more of a sailor.

What?

Well, the neighbour has been very kind and he's arranged for us to go on a sailboat.

Really?

Would you like to go now?

Now?

Yes now!

Okay!

Come on Possum, let's go.

Haha!

Come on in Possum!

Haha!

Sally what a wonderful time we had.

I so enjoyed watching the wind.

Push the sailboat around.

Yes, me too Possum.

It's been a wonderful day.

So much fun.

For me the best part was watching the sail unfurl and letting the wind catch it.

It was brilliant.

Yeah, and the skipper watching the wind and knowing where to steer the boat.

It's just amazing.

Very clever.

Why don't we watch some children learning about the weather and the wind?

Yeah let's watch.

That looked great!

Sally can we make something like that?

Hmm, why don't we make a wind vane, like they had on the boat.

Oh yeah can we?

The instructions on how to make it are in the drawer.

Can you get them out please Possum?

This explains what we need and how to make it.

Can you put it on the table?

Okay.

A straw.

Haha!

It's a bit small.

The other telescope was much better.

Yeah.

Now don't cut anything yet, I need you to cut down the middle, about that much.

Right, now the other way.

Yeah.

Great, fantastic.

Now put that down.

Now can you please cut me a square?

Now we need to make a triangle to act as an arrowhead.

We'll make it out of the cardboard.

Can you cut a triangle please?

A big one?

No, just a small one but not too small, about this big.

Okay.

Look!

Oh it's a cute little triangle.

Now we need to assemble it.

Do you remember where we made those cuts in the straw?

Yep.

We need to slip the cardboard into there but first of all, we need some glue to make it stick.

Okay.

Now put some glue on that, and put it in the middle.

Okay.

Now we need to insert the cardboard into the cuts.

Oh okay.

Ooh!

Now do the same with the triangle.

Okay.

Oh that looks lovely.

Yeah.

Now we need to make the mast.

Okay.

Put that down.

Now put the pencil in the plasticine.

Okay.

Look.

Great, now we need to balance the straw on top.

Oh.

It's all finished.

Yeah Sally look.

Sally, I blew on it and now it's pointing to me.

Yes it is.

I thought it was going to be too windy today but we had such a great day.

Yeah we did.

Today it was so windy, I even forgot to fly my kite but that's okay.

Hey, let's go outside and take this with us.

Okay, well our time is up.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

Bye!

Bye!

Let's go.

Episode 14

Sally is re-potting some of her bigger pot plants. Possum helps and they talk about the importance of trees. Sally gives Possum instructions on how to move plants into the ground that are too big for their pots, so that they will continue to grow. Possum decides there is one plant that really needs a nicer pot, so Sally suggests they make one using clay.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aww!

Hmm!

Aww, wow!

Huh?

Look!

Ah!

I'm Sally!

And I'm Possum.

Hello!

Oh hello everyone, isn't it a lovely day today?

It's a perfect day to be working in the garden.

I've got everything organised and ready for planting.

This tree here is ready to go in the ground.

Hmm, I think Possum will still be asleep.

He finds it hard to get up in the morning.

Oh look!

Hello Sally.

Hi Possum.

Hello everyone.

Sally, isn't it such a beautiful day?

The clean fresh air.

It's wonderful.

I don't think I'd enjoy breathing in smoky air or having to breath underwater like a fish.

I'd much prefer clean, fresh air.

Like today.

Yes, that's right Possum.

All this clean fresh air.

Do you know where that comes from?

Where?

It comes from the trees and all of the plants.

They breathe out all of the air that we breathe in.

Oh.

Trees are very important.

And Sally, do you know what else trees are good for?

They're good for climbing.

They're good for living in, and you can make different things out of them.

Like wooden doors and tables.

And they're good for living in.

They're good for sitting on top of and looking at the beautiful scenery and breathing in the clean air and don't forget, they're good for living in.

That's right, Possum!

There are plenty of reasons why trees are important.

We need to plant some of these things in the garden.

Can you help me please?

Oh yes.

Can you follow me with the wheelbarrow please?

Okay.

Come on.

Sally, what do we do?

We are going to do some work in the garden.

We're going to plant some things.

Okay?

Can you pass me that lettuce that's just there?

Okay.

See, the lettuces have grown nice and big.

Unfortunately for the roots, because the pot is so small, they're getting stuck and there's no room for them to grow.

We need to take them out of the little pots and plant them in the garden here so the roots have got somewhere to grow.

There's one more there Possum, grab that one.

Okay.

Great, now why don't you copy me?

Okay.

First we're going to dig a hole to put the lettuce in.

Great.

Great, now we've dug a hole, we have to very gently so as not to break the stem, take the lettuce out.

Like this.

Good.

Now we just planted in the hole.

Okay.

That's great.

Oh that looks lovely Possum.

You've done really well, now we just need to add a little bit of water.

Just around the stem, not too much, careful.

Careful.

That's it, yes.

Finish, enough?

That's enough.

Can you do mine please?

That's great.

Sally they look beautiful.

Yes they do.

Now the roots have got plenty of room to grow.

And they can grow deep and wide.

And they will get all the food and the nutrients from the soil and that will help them grow big and strong.

Wow.

So the water you've poured will be absorbed and the air that we breath also has things in it, for the plants to help them grow and they will clean the air and help us breathe more clearly.

Oh.

Now, we just need to plant a few more.

Okay.

Hey Possum.

I think there's something wrong with the gutters.

Huh?

Well I went over to the rain water tank to get some water out before and I turned the tap on but only a few drips came out and there's been plenty of rain lately so there should be plenty of water in there.

Maybe the gutter is dirty or blocked with leaves or something.

I'll have a look Sally.

Oh no, no, no Possum.

No.

What?

I can get someone to come and have a look.

They'll have a big ladder so that they can climb up easily and see what's in the gutters.

I can do it Sally.

Hang on, let me think.

Maybe if I go up there, I can jump, jump there.

No.

Hold on, let me have a look.

Possum, what are you doing?

Well Sally, I have an idea.

What if I moved my tree closer to the house.

Haha!

Possum you are funny!

Move your tree?

That is impossible.

It's far too hard to do that.

I will just get someone to come with a ladder and have a look.

Okay?

But Sally, I think it would be a great idea to have another tree somewhere, so that way I can have a holiday.

That is a good idea Possum.

I do have this tree.

Perhaps we could plant that in the garden.

What do you think?

Can we?

Let's do that now then.

Okay.

Right, where would you like to put the tree?

How about over there Sally?

Yes that could work.

Can you go and get the shovel?

Okay.

Okay Possum, we need a hole about this size.

We need to dig it nice and deep.

Okay.

Yep.

Yes that looks good.

Good.

Now we need to take the pot off the tree.

Take that off.

There we go.

The roots are all tangled together because that pot has been too small for them.

We need to loosen the dirt so that the roots can grow.

Oh.

Now when we plant the tree, the roots will have plenty of space to grow.

Yes.

Pop it in the hole, Possum.

That looks great.

Yes, it's going to be a big tall tree with lots of roots.

Sally, will it be as straight as my tree?

Yes it will.

And it will be very tall too Possum.

Should we go and have something to eat?

Okay let's go.

Sally, look.

Sally.

Does this need to be planted?

Yes it does Possum but that flower is just so beautiful.

I want to make a special pot for this one.

Make a pot, how?

I'll show you when we get inside.

I recently bought some clay and from that, we'll be able to make a pot.

Clay?

I thought it was just dirt.

Well it is a type of dirt but you can make all sorts of things out of clay.

Why don't we watch some children making things out of clay?

Would you like to do that?

Yeah let's watch!

Oh that was great!

That was great.

They made some lovely things didn't they?

Now we're going to make our own clay coil pot.

Oh that's great how exciting!

Now first, we need to make some glue.

Huh?

Can you please put that into the water and stir it around, make it all sticky and paste like.

I'm now making the bottom of the pot the base.

This is how I'm going to do it.

Ah!

That's the base.

Now Possum what we need to do is make the coils that are long rolls about that size.

To do that, we need to roll out these balls of clay and make sure when we're rolling them out they're nice and even.

Okay.

Oh that's good Possum, I think that could be enough for that one.

That's enough, it's very long isn't it?

We need to score it first.

I'll show you.

Like that, can you do that all the way around please?

Good, that's fantastic.

Now we need to use the glue, we'll just need to dab a little bit around the edge.

That's good, now we carefully roll the coil around the edge.

Sally, it's too long.

We just cut it off.

Now we've finished one coil.

We need to do a second coil.

Smooth.

Looks great.

Yes, we've finished it now, Possum.

Sally, can we put the plant in now?

Oh not yet it's still wet.

We need to put it into a kiln and when it's in there, it will bake and become nice and hard.

And once we've done that, then we can put the pot in.

Okay Sally.

I've had such a great day today.

I can't wait 'til my holiday tree gets nice and big.

Yes.

Well our time is up.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

Bye!

Bye!

Episode 15

Possum doesn't know the meaning of 'treasure', so Sally teaches him. They decide to plan a treasure hunt for Sally's friend Amanda. Together they write the plan and choose what treasures to put in the treasure chest. They also think where best to hide it and create a series of clues to help Amanda find it. Amanda arrives and they complete the treasure hunt together.

Video transcript

Hello!

Huh?

Look!

Aww!

Hmm!

Aww, wow!

Huh?

Look!

Ah!

I'm Sally!

And I'm Possum.

Hello!

Yeah!

Yeah woo!

Woo yeah!

Muah muah muah.

Hmm.

Hello everyone.

Possum seems really excited, I wonder what's going on.

Hi Sally, hi everyone.

I thought I'd lost my ball but I found it.

I know it's a real treasure for you isn't it Possum?

Sally, what's a treasure?

Well a treasure is something that's valuable.

Something that's precious that you love.

You're right Sally, it is my treasure because you gave it to me.

I know that Possum.

Amanda is coming over this afternoon.

She is?

Why don't you and I organise a treasure hunt for her?

Yeah.

Sally, what's a treasure hunt?

Is it fun?

Oh it's lots of fun Possum.

It's where we get things and we hide them and we don't tell her where we've hidden them and then we write down clues and she has to go from clue to clue to find.

To find the treasure Sally?

That's right, to find the treasure, Possum.

Ah that's great.

A long time ago, people would often put their valuable, expensive things in to treasure chests and then, they would dig holes and put them in there to hide them.

Then they would draw a map and put an X where they buried their treasure, then later on, if they needed to find it, they'd use the map.

Oh wow.

Possum, I have an idea.

What?

Let's go inside.

Okay, let's go.

Now, I have an old wooden box, I'm trying to think where I keep it.

Hmm.

There it is up there.

There it is.

This is an old wooden box that I used to use.

I haven't used it for quite some time now.

I though this might be good for our treasure chest.

Yeah, what can we put in it?

Hmm let's think.

Hmm.

Ooh.

Sally I can't wait till Amanda finds the treasure.

I'm so excited.

Me too but now, we need to work out what clues to give her.

Hmm.

I know Sally, why don't we put this under the bench and we can say the clue is under the bench.

Um.

That's a bit too easy Possum.

We need something a bit trickier.

We want to really hunt for this treasure.

Okay.

Why don't we start at your tree house and we can put an arrow directed at the bench and we won't say it's the bench, we'll just have an arrow leading there with a number of steps to take.

Maybe 10 steps?

Maybe.

Why don't we go outside and draw a map and plan our treasure hunt?

Okay let's go.

Come on Sally, come on come on.

Come on, yay!

Oh.

Now we need a plan for our treasure hunt.

Sally what do we do?

That's a good question Possum.

What do you think is the best way to start it?

I know, why don't we hide the box somewhere?

Maybe we can bury it.

We can dig a hole, put it in, and cover it up and maybe we can draw a map out and then.

Where it's hidden, we can put a red X there.

Yes, that's a great idea Possum, a really good idea.

Why don't we watch some children?

Learning about maps.

Yeah let's watch.

That looked great!

That looked so much fun didn't it?

Sally, it's given me an idea.

Why don't we draw the map and instead of giving it to Amanda, we can hide it and we need to give her some clues.

So one clue can lead to that clue, to another clue, to another.

Hang on hang on Possum, you're getting a bit excited.

Why don't we plan it out first?

We can write it down on this piece of paper.

Where should we start first?

Hmm.

How about at the tree, here?

Okay.

Okay, start at the tree.

Great.

Where should our next clue be?

Hmm.

At the bench.

Oh good idea Possum.

Hmm.

Okay, but how do we get to the bench Possum?

Maybe we could use steps?

Oh that's a good idea Possum.

How many steps though?

Okay hold on.

One, two, three, four, five.

Five steps Sally.

Five steps, okay.

Okay, where is the next clue Possum?

I know, it can be the bike.

And maybe we can draw it.

So the clue is the bike.

Okay, so the clue is in the bike.

Where will the next clue be?

I know.

Maybe the clue can go here.

Right.

That's good.

What's the next clue?

Hmm.

I know, at my tree.

Okay, but how do you get to the tree?

One, two, three, four, five, six.

Six.

Six steps Sally.

Okay, what's next?

What's next?

Why don't we put some arrows going up the tree and we can put the map on the branch.

Oh yes.

Great, the map can go in the tree.

Well, we've done our plan now, why don't we go inside and draw our map and make our clues.

Yeah, come on.

Come on.

Come on Sally.

Come on.

Yay.

Hello.

Hi Amanda.

You both look very happy.

What's going on?

Yes, oh we're very excited.

We're going to have some delicious food soon but first.

But first we're having a treasure hunt.

Oh what fun!

I haven't done a treasure hunt for years.

Oh great!

Amanda, Amanda over there.

Right.

I have to follow the arrow that way.

So five paces that way.

Ready?

One, two, three, four, five.

That's not the treasure.

This is a clue.

Oh!

It's a picture of a bike.

Where's the bike?

I don't know!

There it is.

Let's go!

This isn't the treasure.

It's another clue.

Yes.

Oh another drawing.

It's of the door and the doorstep.

Where's the door?

Oh yeah there it is, let's go.

The arrow's pointing that way.

And six paces.

Yes.

Ready?

Let's go.

One, two, three, four, five, six.

Oh!

There's a red arrow pointing up.

Yes.

And there's another one.

Look at the big scroll.

There it is.

Wow!

Let's open it and see what it is.

Yeah.

It's a very big map.

There's the red X and that's the garden, let's go.

Let's go, go go go go

come on!

Is it this one?

Yes.

The X means it's here somewhere.

Okay, I'm ready to dig.

Look.

Yeah.

There it is.

You find it?

Yes.

Come on let's go.

Great.

Yeah.

What's in there?

That is a bangle for you.

Oh thank you Sally.

What else is in here?

What's this?

Well I know you love to eat my lettuce.

So here are some lettuce seeds.

You can grow your own, Amanda!

That's delicious.

Thank you Sally.

I love it.

Oh.

Possum, your cricket ball, you're giving it to me?

No no no.

This.

10?

10?

You can have 10 hits of my cricket ball but that's it.

The ball is mine.

Okay?

Okay.

10 hits and then I have to give it back.

Well our time is up.

Thanks for watching.

See you next time.

Bye!

Come on Amanda.

Okay.

Come on.

Here you go.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven.

Eight.

Nine.

10.

All right stop.

That's 10, good job.
