The Department of Education is inviting eligible not-for-profit or local government early childhood education and care (ECEC) approved providers or Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations with a provider approval, regulated under the
Education and Care Services National Law (Queensland) (National Law), to apply to lease and operate new long day care services.
Four new long day care facilities will be built at the following locations:
- Rosewood State School—co‑located on the school site
- Yarrabilba State School—co‑located on the school site
- Chinchilla South—vacant Department of Education land at 28 Sheriff Street, Chinchilla
- Yorkeys Knob State School—co‑located on the school site.
The new 75 place long day care facilities are planned for completion by mid-2028 and are a joint initiative of the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Building Early Education Fund, aimed at increasing access to ECEC in areas of need.
